Is my text saved or uploaded?
No. Counting happens in your browser. The text stays in this tab until you clear it or close the page, and it is never sent anywhere.
How is reading time worked out?
Reading time assumes 238 words per minute, a common average for adults reading silently; speaking time assumes 150 words per minute, a typical pace for presentations. Technical text reads more slowly.
What counts as a sentence and a paragraph?
A sentence ends with a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark (abbreviations like “e.g.” are handled by your browser's language rules). Paragraphs are separated by an empty line.
Can I count words in a Word or PDF file?
