How it works

How to add a border to an image

  1. Add up to 20 images — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG, ICO or TIFF. They stay in your browser.
  2. Set the Border width and Colour. To post a whole photo without cropping, pick a Shape such as Square or 4:5 and fill the margins with the colour or a Blurred photo. Add Rounded corners if you like.
  3. Add Resize for an exact final size (for example 1080 × 1080), Format or Compress if needed. Convert, compare, then download each image or a ZIP.

How do I post a whole photo on Instagram without cropping?

Choose Shape → Square (1:1) or 4:5 for portrait posts. The whole picture stays visible and the extra space is filled with your border colour or a blurred copy of the photo. Add Resize → Longest side 1080 px so Instagram does not scale it again.

How wide is the border?

The width is a percentage of each picture's shorter side: Thin is 2%, Medium 5% and Thick 10%, up to 25%. On a 1080 px wide photo, 5% is 54 px on every side. Because it is relative, a batch of photos with different sizes gets matching borders.

Can I make rounded corners with a transparent background?

Yes. Set Rounded corners above 0%; 50% on a square makes a circle. Transparency needs PNG or WebP: PNG and WebP inputs keep it, and for JPG photos add Format → PNG or WebP. A JPG result fills the corners with white.

What does the blurred photo margin do?

When a shape adds margins, Blurred photo fills them with a soft, enlarged copy of the same picture instead of a flat colour, which is a common look for posting landscape photos as squares or stories. The border, if any, is still drawn in your colour around the sharp picture.

Can I use this in a workflow?

Yes. Add Add Border to Image to an image workflow or a step-by-step workflow, choose the border, shape and corners, then chain it with Resize, Compress, Image to PDF or other compatible steps and save the workflow settings for later.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Framing and comparison happen in your browser. Keep the tab open until you download your images; reloading clears the batch. Website hosting and performance measurement are described in our Privacy notice.
