How it works

Edit a PDF and keep an editable project

  1. Open PDFs or still images, or start with a blank A4 page. Select a supported text or image object to edit it. An Original page keeps its content and lets you add text, images, drawing and signatures.
  2. Use Pages to reorder, duplicate, crop or rotate pages and organize output groups. Forms updates linked widgets; copied pages have independent answers. Native edits on a form page ask you to convert its fields to visible content first. Undo restores them.
  3. Export a PDF with Digital or Print, or PNG/JPG page images. Save a project from File to keep your original files and edits, or save a media-free recipe for either workflow mode.
Frequently asked questions

Useful details

Which existing content can I edit?

The editor checks each page before making original text and image instances selectable. Supported simple text and pictures can be changed, moved, resized or deleted. Frozen artwork retains its paint order. Complex graphics, unsupported fonts, scans and other unsupported pages keep their original content; add new objects above them. This editor does not reconstruct scanned text with OCR.

Will my PDF keep its structure and fillable fields?

A complete original document can preserve its fields, bookmarks and other structure when its existing page content is retained. Copying or rebuilding pages can flatten visible answers and lose document structures. Native editing requires explicit form conversion on that page, which Undo can reverse. Export shows the relevant notices; use Preserve fillable fields only when available.

What do Digital and Print mean?

Both save a PDF. Digital uses 150 dpi for raster artwork on rebuilt pages; Print uses 300 dpi. Original vectors remain vector content unless flattening is selected. PNG/JPG page exports use the resolved page appearance. Raster bounds can lower the actual dpi, which is disclosed with the result. JPG pages have a white background.

What is included in a project or recipe?

A .toolkitta-pdf project includes original files with their metadata, edits, authored text, form answers, image replacements and signature images. A recipe contains user edits, authored text and edited answers, with generic ordered source slots. It omits source files and image bytes. Native edits require the matching source fingerprint or explicit target rebinding. Workflow saves also require supplemental files to be supplied again. PDF export passwords are never stored in projects or recipes.

Which PDFs are unsupported?

Encrypted, already digitally signed or certified PDFs and XFA forms are refused for general editing. Unlock a permitted PDF first or use a standard, unsigned copy. The Fill PDF Forms handoff can retain its existing limited standard-field flow for a supported hybrid XFA form; broader editing requires a standard PDF.

What are the limits?

Use up to 20 originals and supplemental assets: PDFs up to 50 MB each, images up to 20 MB each and 200 MB total. A document has up to 300 page instances, 200 editable objects on one reconstructed page and 2,000 overall. Text boxes hold up to 2,000 characters, with 100,000 authored characters across the document. History holds up to 100 edits. Projects use an 8 MiB manifest and 200 MB original payload; recipes are limited to 2 MiB. Large or complex documents can exceed a device’s available memory; reduce the selection when a readable limit error appears.

Can I repeat this arrangement in a workflow?

Yes. PDF Editor is available in Step-by-step and Advanced. Sequence joins ordered inputs; Custom pages preserves your applied arrangement and output groups. Apply validates every source group before saving settings. Workflow output is PDF; use Protect PDF as a separate step for an export password.
