No. Pages are rendered by a PDF engine that runs inside your browser; the file never leaves your device. The engine itself is downloaded once (about 1.5 MB) the first time you add a PDF. Website hosting and performance measurement are described in our Privacy notice.

150 dpi is a starting point for forms, messages and slides; check small text at your intended display size. 300 dpi matches print resolution for documents you will print or zoom into. 72 dpi gives a small, quick preview. An A4 page is about 1240 × 1754 pixels at 150 dpi and 2480 × 3508 at 300 dpi.

JPG offers adjustable lossy compression for pages with photographs; PNG stores the rendered pixels losslessly for text, tables and line drawings; WebP is another option for web use. Compare the actual results when size matters. Page images are rendered on white. Grayscale removes colour and may reduce file size; the saving depends on the page and output format.

Yes. Click Choose pages on a file to pick its pages from thumbnails (All, None, Odd and Even help), or enter a range such as 2-5, 9 in the Pages field to apply it to every PDF in the batch. Pages chosen on a file replace the typed range for that file. Leave both alone for all pages. A single run renders up to 300 pages.

Up to 20 PDFs of 50 MB each and 200 MB per batch, and 300 rendered pages per run. Rendered pages are capped at 40 megapixels and the renderer’s maximum side; larger pages use a lower dpi with a note.

Yes. When a file needs a password, its row shows a password field — enter the password and click Unlock. The password is used in your browser to open the file and is never sent or stored. Files whose owner password only restricts printing or copying open without a password.

Yes. Switch What to convert to Embedded images and each photo or graphic stored in the PDF is saved at its stored pixel size, once per document even if it is reused on several pages, with the page it first appears on shown in the row. The PDF engine decodes every image type it can display, including JPEG 2000, CCITT fax and CMYK, then the picture is re-encoded in the format you choose — so choose PNG for lossless pixels or JPG for adjustable lossy compression. Text, vector drawings, stencil masks, inline images and icons of 32 px or smaller are not extracted; a scan whose whole page is one image comes out as that image.

Use Send to beside a page image, or Send all to for the batch, to open the compressor, cropper, converter or Image to PDF with those images loaded. Every session stays available until you reload the page.
