About project files

Projects include your original files and their metadata with editable tracks. Recipes include settings and generic source slots only. Nothing is saved automatically.

START FROM SCRATCH

A timeline for your ideas

Start with empty tracks, then add videos, photos, titles or a voiceover.

Save a project to continue later. Your files are never uploaded for processing.

How it works

How to edit video on the timeline

  1. Open your media

Add videos, audio or still images, or reopen a project with embedded originals.

  2. Arrange and frame

Select clips to trim, split, slip, change speed or crop. Add tracks, timed text and image overlays.

  3. Mix the sound

Set clip and track volume, mute, solo and fades. Add your own music or record a voiceover.

  4. Export or keep editing

Export MP4/WebM, or use Save projects to keep originals and tracks. Save a recipe to repeat settings in a workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Useful details

8 answers
Can I layer videos, titles and music?

Yes. Visual tracks stack in order and audio tracks can overlap. A dissolve uses an explicit overlap on one video track; otherwise clips on the same track stay separate.

Can I start from a quick tool?

Trim, Merge, Crop, Resize, Rotate, Mute, Speed, Music and Volume offer Batch and Interactive Editor modes. Edit in editor carries originals and current settings. Each mode retains its own session until reload.

What is included in a project?

A .toolkitta-video project includes original files, their metadata and editable arrangement settings. Exported videos rebuild frames and omit original metadata. Nothing is saved automatically.

Can I use this in a workflow?

Yes, in Step-by-step and Advanced workflows. Sequence joins the current inputs; Custom repeats a validated recipe with typed positional source slots. Saved workflows omit files and ask for supplemental media again.

How does recording work?

Record voiceover asks for microphone permission only when pressed. By default the project plays along; use headphones. Stop keeps a local take aligned using reported input/output latency; Cancel discards it.

Does it generate captions or media?

No. Add timed text manually and import your own videos, pictures and sound. Beat markers are optional timing aids; automatic captions, scene synchronization and generated media are not included.

Which formats can I export?

MP4 or WebM, subject to browser codec support. Use Video to GIF or Frame Extractor for GIFs/stills. Larger results use local browser storage when supported; memory-only output is capped at 128 MiB.

Are animated images preserved?

Still-image imports use their first frame. Use a video source for movement.
