Is converting MOV to MP4 lossless?
Usually, yes. Most MOV files from iPhones and cameras use H.264 or HEVC video with AAC sound, which MP4 holds as they are, so Toolkitta copies them into a new MP4 without re-encoding. The row says no re-encoding before you start.
Why would a video be re-encoded?
Each format holds certain codecs. WebM holds only VP8, VP9 or AV1 video with Opus or Vorbis sound, so an H.264 MP4 has to be re-encoded to become WebM. For MP4, Toolkitta keeps only H.264 or HEVC video and AAC sound as they are and turns VP9, AV1 or Opus into H.264 and AAC, because many players cannot play those inside MP4. Adding Resize or Compress also re-encodes.
Will an HEVC video play everywhere after converting?
HEVC is copied as HEVC. Most recent phones, Macs and Windows PCs play it, but some older devices and apps do not. For the widest support, add Compress, which re-encodes to H.264.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is read and written in your browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark.
