6 answers +What is EXIF data?
EXIF is the information a camera or phone saves inside a photo file: the camera and lens, exposure settings such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO, the date and time, and often the GPS position where the photo was taken. Editing apps can add their own name and keep or drop the rest.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Each photo is read in your browser and never sent to Toolkitta. Only the Open in map link sends a photo's coordinates to OpenStreetMap, and only when you click it. Website hosting and performance measurement are described in our Privacy notice.
Why does my photo show no EXIF data?
Many apps remove it. Screenshots never have camera details, and photos downloaded from social networks or sent through messaging apps usually arrive without them. Exports from editors keep them only if the editor was set to. A photo that shows nothing here has no standard EXIF in the file.
How do I see where a photo was taken?
If the photo stores GPS coordinates, its card shows them under Location with the altitude, and Open in map shows the spot. Phones save a location when location access is on for the camera app.
Can I compare or export the details of several photos?
Yes. Add up to 20 photos; a comparison table shows camera, aperture, shutter, ISO, focal length, date and whether each has a location. CSV and Excel downloads have one row per photo with aperture, ISO, focal length, size and coordinates stored as numbers. JSON keeps every summary field.
How do I remove the EXIF data?
Click Remove metadata. The photos open in Remove Image Metadata, which strips location, camera, dates and other details; JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF keep every pixel.
